Summer arrived, Christmas holidays start in 90 days and local travel offers enormous variety. And, Oskars Cafe & Bakery in Hermanus is a must if the Western Cape is on your vacation list. We paid them a visit and tried out their delicious range of goodies.
Oskars Cafe & Bakery is a tiny Hermanus delight
Oskars Cafe & Bakery reveals a tiny delight of delicious baking. Furthermore, the coffee tastes sublime. And, on a summer day, the pavement seating offers a sea view. Additionally, situated just one block up from the popular waterfront area, Oskars is a short walk from plentiful parking, which, in December, is important in this popular seaside town.
Unsurprisingly, travel advisory reviews reflect the delight and surprise our group felt when presented with an array of home-baked goodies. Certainly, the carrot cake is probably one of the best in the country, although we also managed to collectively work through coconut slices, chocolate brownies, lemon meringue, and more.
Not just for the sweet-toothed
Luckily, there is more to Oskars than delicious cakes. Furthermore, they offer gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian-friendly eats. Importantly, the service is friendly and clients enjoy fresh harvest salads, rusks, pies, sandwiches, homemade bread, and freshly squeezed juice. Plus, all the goodies are available for pre-ordering and collection via WhatsApp.
Any, restaurant with apple crumble cheesecake on the menu is surely a winner. Certainly, most advisory websites highly rank Oskars Cafe & Bakery as being one of the best coffee shops in town. They currently open from 7.30 am until 5 pm. The Cafe serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Moreover, whilst all of us would love to while away the day, laptop use is limited as space is premium. Actually, this little bakery is very busy, so give others a chance to enjoy it too.
Sadly, COVID-19 has battered beautiful South Africa. Importantly, even a short day trip rather than an extended holiday will assist SA tourism. Certainly, Western Cape residents will not regret a day in Hermanus and a treat from Oskars Cafe & Bakery.
